Keep It Cheap Keep It Fun

Here is an interesting question, while traveling, should we only visit the famous tourist attractions?
Have you noticed that when traveling, our first thoughts are to hunt down the famous museums, monuments and parks? So we pack the kids in the car, drive for hours, stop countless times for bathroom breaks and soft drinks and hear from the back of the vehicle,
“Mom, tell Bobby to stop breathing on me!
“Suzy won’t stop touching me!”
“Are we there yet?”
Then, once you get to your destination, with a headache, you find that everyone else traveling that day had exactly the same idea .The place is so crowded that the only thing you can concentrate on is trying to keep track of your kids.
Then, if you do get close enough to see the featured attraction you find that it is not near as exciting as the brochure has led you to believe and within minutes the kids and your spouse are looking at you with faces that say it all,
“We came all this way for …..THAT”!
Most seasoned travelers know that the attractions everyone has heard of are not necessarily the best sights to see when sight seeing. These places just have too many tourists, heavily inflated prices, and experiences that are less entertaining than expected. Personally I have found that there are smaller, less expensive places to visit with activities that are a lot more interesting, more fun, and less crowded.
So what I do now is use my internet to look for the lesser known attractions and vacation spots to find the more secluded beaches, lesser traveled parks and tours. You will be surprised at what you can find. Go to the many blogs out there and ask other people what suggestions they may have to share.
There are so many ways to get travel information even by using a good old fashion method such as stopping at a restaurant as soon as you get into town and asking your server what they would suggest or even ask the family at the table next to you. I think you will find that a little research before you go and talking to the people along the way will make for a much more pleasant experience and, if your lucky, you will tire out the kids and they will sleep all the way back home. Good luck.

I have a big, big, big secret. Well, sort of: at least I just found out about it today.
Did you know that Google has a Hot Trends page?
You can find anything from information on Jay Leno's recent hospitalization to the Music City Marathon all the way to Sri Lankan Tea. And if you are anything like my husband, you can find the best places to go for Fantasy Baseball site. This page provides daily updates on popular search terms for marketing research as well. You can access its archives to see what was popular in years past or access information as recent as 30 minutes ago.
